Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome back to school and a very Happy New Year! I hope you all had a restful and enjoyable Christmas break.

I would like to extend my sincere thanks to all of you for your support and attendance at our Christmas events. Your involvement truly makes a difference, and it was a joy to see so many of you at our festive activities and performances.

I would also like to thank our amazing PTFA and the whole school community for supporting all of the fundraising activities last term. The PTFA raised approximately £5000 across all of the events - which is incredible!

As we begin the Spring Term, we have many exciting opportunities lined up for the children. Each class will begin their Forest School lessons which will be planned in blocks throughout the coming terms. These lessons will offer hands-on experiences, promoting teamwork and environmental awareness, and we know the children will love the activities ahead.

Additionally, we are eagerly anticipating Science Week, which will hopefully include an immersive Space Dome experience and Devon Science Day full of workshops for our students again. This will be a fantastic opportunity for our pupils to learn about Science in a dynamic and engaging way. Dates to follow soon.

We are also excited to announce the Year 4 Bristol Residential and the Year 5 and 6 residential trip to France, which will be memorable experiences for all involved. Further details will follow soon, but we’re confident they will be wonderful learning and adventure-filled trips for our students.

To keep you updated on your child’s learning this term, class teachers will be sending out their own letters with specific details relating to your child’s curriculum. They will also continue to keep you informed of each week's focus across subjects in their weekly updates on dojo.

As a whole school, we are excited to be working on a trust wide art project this term celebrating our wonderful locality through a variety of art projects. We will be exploring the PSHE topic of ‘Keeping Ourselves Safe.’ This important subject will give our pupils the tools and knowledge they need to navigate their world safely.

Our Character Virtue focus for the start of term is ‘Helpfulness,’ and we will be encouraging students to think about how they can show their helpfulness in school and at home. I have already witnessed wonderful examples of ‘helpfulness’ across the school in the first few days of the term.

As always, we are grateful for your ongoing support. Together, we can make this term a fantastic experience for every child.

Best wishes for the term ahead,

Mrs Gail Holmes

Last term Sidney took part in a trampoline competition, having only started trampolining in September.

He did fantastically well, coming 4th overall in his category, and in front of 6 judges and a room full of people!

Here he is in action and sporting his medal. Well done Sidney!
